You've probably discovered that I LOVE words. (duh)
Anyhoo, today's word is "tenterhooks" which I really love because it sounds dangerous and all sort of dead-bodies-hanging-in-a-meat-locker....
But, in searching for its origin I discovered a lovely little site that the rest of you wordophiles will, I suspect, similarly adore:
